About BSA: The practice was founded in 1986 by David Wadsworth. In 1994 David changed the name to BUILDING STRUCTURES ASSOCIATES to reflect his specialist field and to recognise his close association with other professionals in the construction industry. David has an honours degree in Civil Engineering and is a corporate member of both the Institutions of Structural and Civil Engineers. He is a Chartered Engineer. Nicola joined the practice in 2010, an experienced technician, and since 2017 a director. Together with David they form the core of the practice. David has been called upon to act as expert witness in several cases and the practise is frequently approached to offer advice on structural defects and forensic engineering matters. David was made a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2009. The set up of the practice allows David and Nicola to take projects forward and draw upon the talents of specialist geotechnical engineers, drainage engineers, draughtsmen, party wall surveyors, Architects and surveyors as the needs arise. In 2022 David retired from the day to day work of the practise which is now handled by Nicola. David now acts as consultant. The practice operates from its base in East Grinstead from where it can serve projects anywhere in the South East, London and the home counties. BSA Costs: Work can be carried out on hourly charges or if preferred, and if the work can be quantified, a fixed lump sum fee can be offered.
